How to Choose the Right Cookware Without Overbuying

Cookware shopping can get expensive fast, and most kitchens don’t need 15 pans. Start with what you actually cook. A simple “core set” works for most homes: one nonstick skillet, one stainless or cast-iron skillet, one saucepan, and one medium pot.
Think in functions, not brands. Nonstick is best for eggs and quick cooking. Stainless is great for searing and sauces. A medium pot covers pasta and soups. If you bake often, add a sheet pan and a baking dish.
Before buying new pieces, do a two-week log of what you reach for. Your habits will tell you what you truly need.
